Just one more comment about everything! YES I know that lacrosse is our NATIONAL SPORT! Yet the government has to stick thier noses in and claim that HOCKEY is our NATIONAL WINTER SPORT, and LACROSSE is the SUMMER NATIONAL SPORT. That has to be the most retarted thing I ever heard. I have nothing at all against Hockey, I am a big fan! But changing our National sport-to co-national sports is completely wrong! Lacrosse and Hockey are great the best sports that develop young kids, and each conditions for the other! BUT co-NATIONAL SPORTS?
Thanks for everyones time, again great site BC

Way to go Shamrocks! We are so proud to have the Mann Cup in the West. Sure wish we could have been there to see that exciting series. Your site is excellent, but TSN really should show all the games. We used to live in Victoria and that is where we learned to play and love the exciting sport of lacrosse. Special mention to Gary Gait and Marty O'Neil for their effort.

The better team won and I'm proud to be a 'Rocks fan... Yet I fell in love with those Gamblers' also and I wish them the best for the future. With so many rookies, they pulled together a wicked and beautiful season. WAY TO GO!!! I look forward to hearing how your next season progresses... For now, Victoria can enjoy the presence of the Mann Cup and the memories of an amazing season. To the Shamrocks: What a sweet victory!

"LACROSSE IS HIGHLY CONTAGIOUS"
I can't count the amount of people (past & present),
I've introduced "the game of lacrosse" to and have enjoyed
it.As a matter of fact, I have this 8 year old,in which his
entire family have been involved in baseball for many, many
years, has watched every game of the Shamrocks MANN CUP drive
and is now turning his glove in for a lacrosse stick. This
enthusiasm determines me to help him out to become, possibly
a future Shamrock.I have done this my entire lacrosse career
in between coaching kids, playing all Junior levels, Senior
as a Shamrock, playing field lacrosse locally and nationally
in '82,'90,'94 and "restringing" many a stick for kids....
..for nothing..because I ENJOYED it..it was in my blood.
I have NO intention in trying to damage a sport I once lived
and breathed.CONGRATULATIONS to ALL the Shamrocks and executive
have done a marvelous job.THIS is YOUR MOMENT and thanx to Daryls
great web page, you can see for yourself the many appreciative
lacrosse fans in Victoria! ENJOY!!!!!!

I am enthused when something like this happens and am willing

ages, playing on a National team in '82,'90,'94 and "re-stringing"
many a stick for kids...for free!!NO, I am not bragging..it was

Can't resist commenting on: Bill Marechek's comments about lacrosse stink. What a way to discourage young people from joining the finest minor sport to ever hit Victoria. Shame on you. In the meantime, thank you to the Victoria Shamrocks for the leading the way. Because of you the minor leagues are growing and growing. Way to go!!! Can't wait till next year!!

THE SHAMROCKS RULE!!!!!!!!!! GAME 5 WAS AWSOME!
I'd like to say I'm very proud of the 'Rocks, they were great!!
The Gamblers put in a good effort, but experience
triumphed over youth, I'd also watch out for the Gamblers
next season, if they keep this team together they be a large
force in the OLA.
TYSON LEIES RULES!!!!!!!!!

I definately agree with Jim. Everyone should e-mail tsn and at least request that they cover some if not all of the Mann Cup games next year. After all it is our national sport. Failing that, they should at least have some mention of the scores, be it verbally or on the scroll. You can e-mail tsn at either or both of these adresses. audiencerelations@tsn.ca or webmaster@tsn.ca....All lacrosse fans should show that we want more national coverage!!! Congratualtions Rocks', her's hoping you can stay together next year and repeat for the greatest fans in the world in Victoria.

Congrats to Gary! Congrats to the 'Rocks they deserved the cup! Western lacrosse might finally give the Eastern lacrosse a run for our money. I hope it was an exciting series. Although the scores weren't that close, I hope the play was exciting. Thanks for the excellent site, great updates, I hope this type of coverage continues.(on the net) It's just too bad that TSN wouldn't jump on the lacrosse bandwagon, and show games. That would get a lot of attention, it's a great sport. We should (all lacrosse players & fans ) should get together and tell TSN to scrap the horse jumping, and HALF the baseball coverage, cricket, and all those other snoring sports, and get to some real exciting sports like LACROSSE!
again Excellent site!

Well, I am happy for most of the guys ..CONGRATS!!..
They deserved it!
I guess Gary and Tom were the final ingredients they needed
to now, go out shopping for rings!!
Enjoy and appreciate watching my brother, now that I cannot
put back into the game..thanx to the C.L.A. and the their so
called organization.
It is a great game and its too bad there are "people" out
there that can screw it up for others and future Shamrocks.
If it wasn't for my brother playing, I wouldn't even bother
watching LACROSSE...again..thanx to "mis-management"..I wish
all the guys continued success in a great sport!!
P.S...GOOD LUCK to the National field team in Baltimore'98!!

We were over in Vic for the first 2 games. From what we'd seen
of the remaining games, we wish we'd been there for games 3 and 4. People
in and around the Dominion Hotel where we were staying were
super friendly. There was an enthusiatic lacrosse crowd. Good luck
in the rest of the series, Rocks. Gary, take it easy on the Gambelers....(cough,sputter)

Again, an excellent job on this lacrosse page. You and Glen Dundas (for the OLA) do a great job of covering the great, but media extinct, game of lacrosse. One querry for your stats guy: why is John Davis not listed among the top Mann Cup scoreres? He is the all-time leading scorer in Major box lacrosse and played in many Mann Cups. Why is he absent? orcocr

On behalf of the Ontario Lacrosse Association and all of the membership, I would like to extend a sincere congratulations to our Ontario Champions, the NIAGARA FALLS GAMBLERS. In their first year as an organization, what better reward for players and management alike, than to represent the great people of Ontario for the persuit of Box Lacrosses Ultimate Championship. Champions in our hearts you now accept the challenge to prove to the world that the MANN CUP, and all it represents, belongs to Ontario.
As past players will attest, the environment and all of its elements will be against you, and rightfully so. One should not let an intruder into their house and make them feel welcome to take the coveted prize. But if the intruder is bigger and badder... Sorry about your luck. HAHAHA!
Go get em Gamblers !!!!!!
Cogratulations to two very outstanding CHAMPIONS.
BEST OF LUCK TO BOTH TEAMS.

As a 5 time winner of the Mann Cup 73, 78, 80, 82, 84 and an 8 time participant in the series I follow with great interest the 98 Mann Cup. I would like to extend my congratulations to all the players on both clubs for their success this season and the achievement of participating in this truly great final. This is the true "World Championship of Box Lacrosse" the equivalent of the "Stanley Cup". Good Luck to all participants. It is with envy that all fellow lacrosse players look on at the Mann Cup as lacrosse has fallen on hard times at the senior level in the city of Peterborough. This series looks like it will be very competitive and could possibly go the limit. Never count out the Kilgours or the defending champions as some of the Gamblers are. The fact that the series is played in Victoria is going to make it very difficult however espceially since Victoria has added their hometown boy's of Gait and Marachek. Some USA fans might remember me when I played as an original member of the Philadelphia Wings of 1974-75 in the old NLL. Good Luck to all particpants and the new Pro league which will start this winter with many of these top players.

You've done a great job of setting up an excellent Mann Cup site on rather short notice. I'll definitely have a link to it from my Mining Company site for as long as play lasts. For as long as the site is here, in fact. (I already have a permanent link to your main site, as well as a link to your information on the Canadian National Team.)

Darryl,
I've enjoyed your page over the last few months and look forward to coverage of the Mann Cup even though I will be at all the games.

PS I am the Head Coach of the Victoria Royal Waxmen who will be heading to Long Island to participate in this year's Brogden Cup on Oct. 3rd, 4th and 5th and will also be hosting the National Senior Field lacrosse chanpionships on Oct. 10th, 11th and 12th. Twelve of the Shamrocks will be playing for the Waxmen in the Nationals and the Brogden. I was also the Head Coach of the Shamrocks for seven years and was at the helm the last time the Rocks won the Mann Cup in 1983.

Surely it's time to start pressuring the television networks to start carrying important series like the Mann and Minto cups. Or pray that the internet gets even better!

Great site, I am so glad there will be a place for me to follow
the boys from the FALLS. I am originally from Buffalo, NY and
thus am a HUGE fan of the BANDITS and the GAMBLERS. Having had
a chance to play with some of the BANDITS players at Sportsplex
in Buffalo I have developed a great respect for the skills some
of them posess above players like myself who played at the DIV-I
level in the States. GO GAMBLERS.

DARYL,
THE MANN CUP SITE IS TERRIFIC!!!
AS WITH YOU, THE FERRY SITUATION MAKES DAILY
TRIPS TO VICTORIA AN IMPOSSIBILITY FOR ME. SO, I WILL BE
RELYING ON YOU TO PROVIDE THE VERY LATEST INFORMATION. AND
I KNOW YOU WILL, AS YOU HAVE THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE SEASON.
HAVING THE SERIES THIS CLOSE AND NOT BEING ABLE TO SEE IT IS
VERY STRESSFUL FOR THE ADDICTED!!!! (WISH I COULD ACCESS
CANADIAN CABLE!!)
