The Victoria Waxmen lived up to their moniker on the weekend as they waxed the field with their opponents.
Saturday they had a decisive 13 - 5 victory over Richmond Woodies. Then, in Sunday's final, they hammered the Coquitlam Adanacs 13 - 6.
The Waxmen defended the Provincial title they won last season and now look to defend their Canadian Championship this fall.
All games were played at a beautiful North Shore setting on the Squamish Indian Reserve. Everyone raved about the superb setting. This really enhanced the atmosphere of the game and the condition of the fields were outstanding.
Of course, the beautiful weather we finally received, certainly helped the occasion.
In the Gold medal game, Adanacs jumped out to a quick 2 - 0 lead. However, the Waxmen then took advantage of 9 straight goals, to lead 9 - 2.
Victoria displayed their skills and determination in capturing their second straight BC title.
Discipline and team play had twelve Victoria players capturing scoring points. Darren Reisig had a strong tournament for the Waxmen.
The A's attempted a fourth quarter comback but the deficit was too large to overcome.
Congratulations to the Waxmen and may you make it two National titles in a row!
The Canadian Championships take place this fall in Victoria.
